About Southport Hotels Association

Southport Hotels Association is the country's oldest hotels association, established in 1888.

Its proud traditions withstanding, today's SHA is a vibrant, forward-thinking movement dedicated to a sustainable independent hospitality industry in Southport and its surrounding areas. The year 2013 heralded the Associations 125th anniversary, and a fresh new look: the newly-adopted bedpost emblem a clear signal that guest comfort and warmth of hospitality are our members priority.

With that look came a focussing of attention and a determination to ensure the independent hotels, bed and breakfast and self-catering sector in Southport remains strong, buoyant and flexible: constantly delivering best standards and increasing quality to reflect the changing needs of the travelling public.

SHA Board

Southport Hotels Association is a self-governing body and, as such, oversight is made by SHA members elected to an Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee is made up of volunteer proprietors who have been member of SHA for at least two years, and who have been proposed and elected to the steering group by their peers. This steering group meets regularly to review events that have occurred in Southport and generally that might affect SHA members, the hospitality industry and local tourism in general.

With a strong voice in support of independent hotel, bed and breakfast and self-catering proprietors, the Association represents the best interests of its members and their valued guests by ensuring its views are aired and shared in the appropriate places and tone.

Key SHA Positions

Responsibilities are shared amongst all Executive Committee members, with key roles currently filled by:

  • SHA Chair: Tracy Holgate of Ambassador Townhouse
